CHINESE NEW YEAR RECIPES

IMG_1843.jpg

Chinese New Year has always been about being with family and we always have a home cooked meal. I will be making up some traditional dishes this year with the recipes from the Real Canadian Superstore . I’ve been shopping there since I was a kid, and we are passing on the tradition to our little ones.

My family has been going to Real Canadian Superstore as our go-to, one-stop-shop for years as they have an assortment of everything including authentic brands and products (from home necessities to groceries) and all at a great value. I’ve been buying groceries for years and I always keep coming back for the convenience.Read More

Chinese Restaurant Awards

I’ve had Chinese food all my life and there’s some pretty amazing restaurants in Vancouver; however, going to the true source to taste authentic local dishes is a completely different / once in a lifetime experience.

We tailored this guide to include a mixture of both Chinese and Western restaurants. It would seem impractical for someone traveling aboard to start off having Chinese cuisine three meals a day (or more)!

See below for a well rounded trip to Hangzhou filled with food and photo fun!Read More

MERCATO BY JEAN-GEORGES LUNCH REVIEW

Mercato by Jean-Georges is conveniently located in the heart of Lan Kwai Fong, Central. The last impression of Jean-George’s was a few years back when I was still working corporate. A three course, 60 minute power lunch at Market in Vancouver. To be honest, Vancouver’s version is  good but never held a long lasting impression. This chef has a long history in Hong Kong and a huge lineup of restaurants around the world. Finally a chance to try another one of his restaurants, simple Italian at Mercato.Read More

TWG TEA VANCOUVER

TWG Tea Vancouver

Luxury tea brand TWG opened its doors late last year in the heart of downtown Vancouver. Replacing what was once Urban Tea Merchant, decor has been replaced with iconic yellow tins aligned across the walls. If you love afternoon tea and haven’t tried TWG, this spot is definitely on the list to check out. Beyond afternoon tea, they also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner so we opt to try a variety of items off the menu.Read More

FIVE BEST PLACES TO INSTAGRAM IN VICTORIA

Victoria - Hatley Castle

Being raised in Vancouver, it has been a long time since I’ve visited Victoria. Perhaps shopping has always been a priority and going across the border sounds more interesting. However after the multiple shopping trips, I just wanted a quiet relaxing trip to catch up with a girlfriend without going too much into the wilderness. Victoria is the perfect place for a night or two away from home.

There are many classic places to visit like the parliament building or Buchart Gardens. Trying to think out of the box, I’ve been researching spots that are not as common. Here are my five favourite places to visit in Victoria, which are also 5 perfect Instagram spots!Read More

VICTORIA – INN AT LAUREL POINT

Inn at Laurel Point

It’s no secret my house is always overly lively. With two kids constantly yelling in my ears, pulling my hair and kicking me at night, it’s time for a quiet getaway. Imagine going into your hotel suite, opening the balcony doors and all you hear are birds chirping and the sound of rustling leaves on nearby trees. A perfect place to get a peace of mind.
Inn at Laurel Point is in the heart of downtown Victoria. Situated right in front of the harbor, it faces the parliament building and Fairmont Empress. The spot is quiet and quaint, seeing the busier side downtown across the water but not accessing the noise and walking tourists.
